Logos & marksType | Layout | Color Theory | Illustration 2018 marked the inaugural year of the Dairyland Dirtbags, a trail running club I founded while working at Fleet Feet Madison, my local running store. The timing of this coincided with the start of my graphic design schooling, so I was excited to construct a branding campaign for the club which has evolved alongside my education. The group has been a huge success, withstanding the test of COVID and bringing together an amazing group of runners with a similar passion for adventure. Going into our third, 2021, season we look forward to getting back to regular group runs, burning our quads ascending our favorite hills, and sporting this new logo and badge series on the gear that gets us noticed by the wildlife. Loons usually seem to be present at, and remind me of, some of the happiest times in my life: canoeing in the boundary waters, getting together with family at the cabin, and waking up at sunrise to fish on a misty lake. This mark was created to be printed and sold in the bookstore at Madison College, where some of my other happiest times have taken place. Courser is a mobile app that allows users to buy, lease, or sell horses, and aims to simplify the process of communicating about and arranging times to saddle up. From lease agreements to payment processing, you can manage the entire process end-to-end in Courser. My contribution to this up and coming startup was in the form of developing a new logo incorporating an icon to be featured in mobile environments. Parquet Development helps navigate the ins and outs of platform migrations and implementations, sharing new insights, assisting in strategy sessions, and give you best practice recommendations for your business. I was contracted to update the logo for Parquet Development and found inspiration for the design from the company’s namesake, the elaborate wood working practice of parquetry. The Association of Wisconsin Artists (AWA), formerly named WRAA, is a non-profit membership organization which promotes visual art programs, education, appreciation, and recognition for their members and communities. A team of designers and I collaborated with AWA to develop a new logo to celebrate their 66th anniversary and modernize the feeling of the foundation.
